WELCOME TO THE RURAL WOMEN'S REPUBLICAN CLUB

President's Greeting

Welcome to the Rural Women's Republican Club (RWRC) Web Page!! It is my very special honor and privilege to serve as President of RWRC. Come join us!! Our rural community is located in the western part of Montgomery County; we pride ourselves in the beauty of our countryside, with the many farms and beautiful view of Sugarloaf Mountain, the focal point of our area.

Our club meets the third Monday of the month at members's homes, with the exception of January, July, August and December. Our women are hard working and very passionate about their beliefs and values. We are being proactive in our quest for new faces to come join us and help us in our endeavors to elect Republicans and spread the benefits of conservatism. Not only are we passionate about our politics, we are also active in state and community organizations with monetary donations and volunteer our time.

Most important to our volunteerism is our support of our military. One lesson that this past election taught us is that too many people in this country do not understand what makes America so unique in history and so exceptional in the present time. America is EXCEPTIONAL in history and in the age in which we now live.

Dear All,

To kick off our first meeting of the Fall, Rural Women's Republican Club (RWRC) General Meeting will be on Monday, September 19th at 5:00pm at the beautiful home of Pat and Nelson Tyler, 24900 Old Hundred Road, Dickerson, MD 20842. At the suggestion of some of our members to try to do something different, we will be having a Pot Luck Dinner, with a Dickerson Market favorite—Fried Chicken!! To add to the menu, we would ask that you bring a side dish to share. So that we order enough Fried Chicken, we will need your RSVP by Friday, September 16th. (NOTE: Fried Chicken is best when you eat it with your fingers :) ) Please RSVP by e-mail: tp.dillingham@verizon.net

We are very honored to have as our Guest Speaker: Amoretta 'Amie' Hoeber, who was recently appointed by Governor Hogan to be a member of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Ms. Hoeber is President of AMH Consulting, a Potomac, Maryland company and since 1991, she has provided consulting on a wide range of defense matters. Prior to founding her consulting company, Ms. Hoeber held several senior management positions at TRW's Federal Systems Group in Fairfax, VA. Before joining industry in 1986, Ms. Hoeber served as Deputy Under Secretary of the Army in President Reagan's Administration. Earlier she was on the staff of several defense think tanks, including the Rand Corporation, and was a leader in several professional groups including the Council on Foreign Relations and the NBC Industry Group. She has authored and co-authored numerous books on military strategy and other national security issues.

Ms. Hoeber is a member of the Board of Directors of Sumaria, Inc. and was a member of the Board of Directors of Versar, Inc., and Chairman of the Board of EAI Corporation. She was also on the Board of the House of Ruth Maryland for more than a decade and was a co-founder of CLONE, an organization that focuses on mentoring young women in the defense business, both uniformed and civilian.

Ms. Hoeber is also an artist. For the past fifteen years she has been a glassblower and for the past four years she has become a painter of acrylic abstracts. Both her glass and her acrylic paintings have been in juried shows, and she also donates some of her art pieces to charity and political auctions.

She was the Republican nominee for Congress in Maryland's Sixth Congressional District in 2016 and 2018.

Hope to see you at Poolesville Day and our first Fall Meeting!!

Rural Women's Republican Club Celebrates 60 Years and its Founding Mothers

Dutch's Daughter Restaurant in Frederick was the setting for The Rural Women's Republican to celebrate its 60th Anniversary on Monday, March 21, 2022. Also, celebrated was Jill Chadwick's 99th birthday, the last surviving Charter Member of the club, and the last two Founding Mothers of the club--Bonnie Anthony and Dorinne Armstrong. The foundation that these ladies established for the club is still carried on by its members--political value, as well as the importance of Community Outreach.

April Zoom Meeting - Monday, April 19th at 10:30am

We are very honored to have as our guest for the April Zoom meeting, Ella Ennis, who serves as the MFRW Legislative Chair. Ella has diligently kept everyone abreast of the bills in the 442nd session of the General Assembly--bills presented, what bills were voted on, and the results of the votes. As most of you know, it doesn't look good for the taxpayers in the State of MD nor in Montgomery County!! There were 16 of Governor Hogan's vetoes from the 2020 session that were overridden by the Democrat controlled General Assembly; the big ticket item was the $3.8 Billion Kirwan Education Bill. Some bills that came before the Legislative Assembly were: Police Reform, Recreational Marijuana Legalization, No-Knock Warrants, Changing the State Song, etc.

It will be a Wrap for the 442nd General Assembly -- Sine Die on April 12th!!

Our Club

We are a congenial group of women in rural Montgomery County who share many conservative goals and a strong desire to work to preserve them. We know our collective voices will be heard above any of us individually. Our goal is to support local, state, and national Republican candidates for public offices and donate to organizations in our community. We generously donate: A $1,500 scholarship to a deserving high school senior in the upper part of the county, WUMCO Help, Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department (UMCVFD), Save the Bay, donate books to local libraries, NIH Children's Inn, Circle of Hope Therapeutic Riding; Toys for Tots and Poolesville Military Support Group (PMSG). We hold one fundraiser each year (Saturday Night in the Country), which has become a popular community event. Our fundraiser is held at the Izaak Walton League Chapter House, a beautiful lodge overlooking all the beauty of our rural area. The lodge is located on West Willard Road in Poolesville.

Our History

The Rural Women's Republican Club (RWRC) was founded on June 5, 1962, in the shadow of Sugarloaf Mountain. It was a small group of determined women, some of whom are still very active today. Our membership is 41 full and Associate Members. In addition to our political values, we share a love of our rural area and the country lifestyle. Through the years, RWRC has continued to attract determined, conservative, and lively women who are deeply committed to their families, their rural atmosphere, and their Country. We meet monthly in various homes and enjoy the commonality we share as Republicans and a good food.
