Through our political volunteer outreach, MCFRW and its four member clubs–Chevy Chase (CCWRC), Potomac (PWRC), Rural (RWRC) and Upper Montgomery (UMRWC) are on a Roll to break the one-party rule in Montgomery County!! Lots of Campaign activities taking place in MoCo!! So Exciting!!
February: MCFRW hosted the Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership (FACL), which was designed to help candidates and their staff prepare for the upcoming election—there were 49 applicants for the one-day class. Co-chairs were: Martha Hale, Kathy Gugulis and Nancy Griffin;
March: Held a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) event and afterwards wrote patriotic postcards to President Trump;
May: Hosted the MFRW Spring Board meeting and donated the proceeds from the raffle to the MFRW;
June: Members were out and about at the polls, both Early Voting and the day of the Primary;
July: Prepared for our picnic to Celebrate America’s 250 Birthday and to fundraise for our candidates;
August: Had a very successful Celebration for our 250th Birthday and fundraiser for 15 candidates. We had 115 attendees at the picnic and netted $9,000. Co-Chairs were Lori Jaffe and Martha Hale.
Upcoming—October Early Voting and MCFRW Annual Meeting to be held at Kenwood Country Club, with guest speaker Mercedes Schlapp;
November—The Primary and visit to Arlington National Cemetery for Veterans Day, a tradition which was started by the late Kathy Raines, a long-time member.And, we are only about halfway through the year. Looking forward to another great MCFRW year for 2027!!
